In a recent chat, Karima Amin, 78, talks about her experiences as a volunteer tutor with the AARP Foundation Experience Corps program — and her own love of reading and storytelling. Through Experience Corps affiliate Read to Succeed in Buffalo, New York, Karima helps students improve their reading skills before they enter 4th grade, an achievement that studies show leads to success later in life. With more than 1,200 volunteers in 13 communities across the U.S, Experience Corps scores a triple win, benefiting students, the volunteers over 50 who teach them, and the communities in which they serve.
