With the generous and unwavering support of our donors, and the tenacity and commitment of our volunteers and staff, AARP Foundation found ways to give older adults living on the precipice a fighting chance not just to survive — but to thrive.
AARP Foundation serves vulnerable people 50 and older by creating and advancing effective solutions that help them secure the essentials.
Our Focus
We're tackling senior poverty by sparking bold, innovative solutions that help vulnerable older adults increase their economic opportunity — fostering resilience, strengthening communities, and restoring hope.
Our History
For more than 60 years, we've helped older adults with low income increase their economic opportunity. As AARP's charitable affiliate, we serve AARP members and nonmembers alike.
Our Approach
We address our goals of increasing income and decreasing expenditures by helping older adults with low income secure the essentials, including good jobs, eligible benefits, crucial refunds, and sustaining social connections.
AARP Foundation earns a high rating for accountability from a leading charity evaluator.
Eighty-one cents of every dollar we spend goes toward programs and services that help low-income older adults. We have met every one of the Better Business Bureau’s 20 Standards for Charity Accountability.
