6 Romantic Cruises

Caribbean destinations are a lure for lovers

Caribbean cruises are inherently romantic endeavors: You can hold hands as you look out to sea, the sun setting over the waves. You can order breakfast in bed, book a couple’s massage in the ship’s spa, toast each other over a leisurely dinner and snuggle on a beach towel. Here are six romantic cruises that will warm the two of you up — heart and soul.

Cruise 1: The Spirit
A luxurious ship carrying only 208 passengers, Seabourn’s Spirit caters to a bon vivant crowd with fine cuisine, complimentary wine and drinks, all-suite accommodations, and a friendly, pampering crew — the perfect ingredients for romantic cruises. Weeklong journeys from St. Thomas take in several places, including St. Barts and the British Virgin Islands. Don’t miss the signature treat on each cruise: a day of sun, surf and caviar.

Cruise 2: The Epic
Norwegian Cruise Line’s 4,100-passenger Epic is beautiful, bold and, yes, epic. You may be cruising in the warm Caribbean or sunny Mediterranean, but that doesn’t mean you can’t rub noses in the cool (literally) ice bar, the first such bar at sea. Among the other romantic opportunities: Say sweet nothings as you dip into a tantalizing chocolate fondue at Le Bistro (one of 20 shipboard eating venues), share an open-air massage in the spa, and giggle together at the only Blue Man Group show at sea.

Cruise 3: The SeaDream I and II
On weeklong cruises from Puerto Rico (San Juan) or Barbados, these 112-passenger SeaDream yachts serve up plenty of beach time on St. Barts, Jost Van Dyke and other islands. Shipboard, everything is pleasingly luxurious without being stuffy. For a special romantic overnight, book a Balinese Dream Bed for two on the bow, and cuddle under a cozy duvet gazing at the stars or each other.

Next: Ships with real lawns, 10 restaurants and a secret "adults only" sundeck. »
