Larry Renfro currently serves as Chief Operating Officer for AARP Services and President and CEO of AARP Services. He also serves as President of AARP Financial, a wholly-owned subsidiary of AARP Services, Inc. Based in Tewksbury, Massachusetts, AARP Financial, which began operations in September 2005, is dedicated to helping people build a more secure financial future by offering products and services designed to meet their retirement needs. Mr. Renfro was a key architect of creating AARP Financial, the AARP Funds, and the programs pursued by AARP Financial. Mr. Renfro serves as President of AARP Funds, a mutual fund family offering a simple, no-nonsense approach to investing for retirement. Mr. Renfro also chairs the AARP Services Integration Team and has been managing the initiative within AARP Services to reshape its healthcare programs as well as integrate health and wealth products and services across AARP Financial and AARP Services.
Mr. Renfro has spent more than 25 years as a financial services executive. Previously, Mr. Renfro served as Principal and Founder of Devonshire Financial Group, a strategic financial services consulting firm. Prior to that, Mr. Renfro was Chairman and CEO of NewRiver, Inc., a leading supplier of electronic and print-on-demand compliance services to the financial services industry.
As Vice President and Group Executive at Allmerica Financial, Mr. Renfro was responsible for sales, marketing, product development, operations and retirement operations, cash management, and information systems. During his tenure, Mr. Renfro also served as Chairman, President and CEO of Allmerica Trust Company, N.A., and lead the formation and the on-going operation of 440 Financial, a distributor, administrator, and transfer agent for major financial institutions.
Prior to Allmerica, Mr. Renfro was Executive Vice President of State Street Bank & Trust Company, with responsibility for Mutual Fund Services. He also served as Chief Executive Officer of Boston Financial Data Services. Mr. Renfro began his career at Fidelity Investments, where he held several senior positions, including President of Fidelity Retail Services, Managing Director of Fidelity Management and Research and President of Fidelity Information Services, the company's call center.
Mr. Renfro received his B.S. from Western Kentucky University.
