AARP's Social Security Q&A Tool

I was married to the same person twice, the first time for 7 years, and the second time for 5 years. Can I collect benefits on their record since the total is over 10 years?

En español | To collect benefits on an ex-spouse's record a marriage must last 10 years.  This must occur in one continuous span of time.  Multiple marriages to the same person will not be combined to make a person eligible for benefits on a divorced spouse's record.
