With auto mechanics consistently ranking high on the consumer complaint list, it can be hard to gauge if you’re being taken for a ride when you ask for a repair quote.
Now there’s help—www.repairpal.com. The site offers free, realistic quotes based on surveys of auto repair prices at thousands of shops across the country and analyses of actual invoices.
“RepairPal was created so regular people could feel confident about the shops they’re using and the prices they’re paying to fix and maintain their cars,” says CEO David Sturtz.
RepairPal lists local mechanics and provides quotes for repairs and maintenance—in your ZIP code—specific to your car’s make, model and year, some 23 billion different price estimates in all, says Sturtz. Register for a free account and you can store your car’s repair records online and sign up for e-mail service reminders, safety alerts and recalls.
