2010 Livable Communities Awards - Burns Harbor, Indiana

The Prairie-style bungalow blends architecturally with neighboring homes. Its inviting porch provides a spot from which owners can view the street. The porch's front steps are comfortably proportioned and have sturdy handrails. The small lot limits the amount of yard work required. Also, trees and shrubs were selected for their manageable growth habits. The home is near a public park and playground. — Text by Michael Chotiner; Photographs by Chris Usher
