New Medicare Drug Plan Rating Tool
If you have Medicare, no doubt, you’ve been getting information about all the Medicare drug plans available in 2007. AARP has a new tool that makes it easier for you to compare drug plans in your state.
Now, during the annual open enrollment period that runs from November 15 to December 31, you can switch Medicare drug plans. Read over the changes being made to your drug coverage in 2007 and compare it to other plans in your area. Or, if you haven’t yet enrolled, you can use this time to sign up.
AARP’s tool is a quick guide to some of the differences between Medicare “stand alone” drug plans—those that offer only prescription drugs. You can compare plans in your state by:
- each plan’s premiums and deductible
- an estimated cost range for an average person with Medicare
- the number of commonly used medications the plan covers
- whether you’ll pay no or a reduced premium under this plan if you qualify for Extra Help
- whether the plan pays for drugs in the coverage gap (also known as the donut hole)
