Medicare will give you more information as the new prescription drug program starts. Each October, new information will be available. Fifteen days before the annual enrollment period, people who are on Medicare will get a list of plans in their area and a comparison of the coverage options of each plan. Use this information to decide which plan meets your needs.
There are many resources you can use to get additional information and assistance.

- State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) -
To find a counseling program, contact your local SHIP program by going online and
selecting your state. This will give you a website for your state and a toll-free
number to call where someone can help you.
- Social Security Administration - Visit the
SSA's website or call toll-free telephone number (1-800-772-1213 or TTY 800-325-0778)
for questions about Extra Help for people with limited incomes.
- Eldercare - Contact your local Area Agency on
Aging for more specific information about your state. To find the closest location,
visit Eldercare's website and follow the steps on the screen to find help with "Health Insurance
Counseling" or call the Administration on Aging's Eldercare Locator at 1-800-677-1116.
