When You Should and Shouldn't Be Vaccinated

Unless you're exposed to smallpox, don't get vaccinated if you:

  • are allergic to the vaccine;
  • have or have had skin conditions like eczema;
  • now have conditions such as acne, psoriasis, chicken pox or burns;
  • have an immune system that has been weakened by cancer treatment, transplant, HIV infection or other illness;
  • take steroids.
