Think Like an Athlete

Martina Navratilova, AARP's health and fitness ambassador, shares what it takes to achieve an athlete's mentality--a "singleness of purpose to become the best you can."
Among the tips she suggests in this video:
- Act with your image of success in mind by, for example, visualizing how you want your body to look.
- Set small measurable goals that add up to the big one, by, for example having water instead of soda with your meals.
- Put things in writing by journaling your progress toward your goals.
- Concentrate on the moment to avoid distraction and discouragement
- Be willing to prepare because you don't win without discipline.
