By: Alyne Ellis | Source: Prime Time Focus
We all know saturated and trans fats aren't good for us. But many of us don't know that other fats—the monounsaturated and polyunsaturated ones—can actually help our hearts. That's according to a recent survey by the American Heart Association (AHA).
In this AARP radio spot, AHA spokesperson Dr. Clyde Yancy tells host Alyne Ellis that these "good" fats can reduce the risk of heart disease by lowering "bad" LDL cholesterol. You can find good fats in foods like corn oil, olive oil, and fish rich in omega-3 fatty acids.
So when faced with choice between lard and canola oil, pick canola oil, Yancy advises.
