Australia: Ministry on Ageing Launches Experience+ Program

Federal Minister for Ageing Julie Bishop has launched an initiative in Western Australia designed to help businesses better respond to an increasingly important sector of the market — the mature consumers. The ‘Experience+’ program, developed by the Positive Ageing Foundation, helps businesses understand the 50+ consumer by providing practical and useful guidance for helping them to service this market effectively. By combining the latest research with examples of best practice, and developing these into a simple and easy-to-use toolkit of resources, Experience+ provides a cost-effective and practical self-help package for organizations looking to improve their service to the mature market.

"While many organizations claim to be aware of the ageing of the population, few appreciate the full extent of the change or the implications of it on their business," Positive Ageing Foundation CEO Rhonda Parker said. "Participation in the [Experience+] program leads to an endorsement, a ‘tick of approval’, recognizing the practical commitment of the business in serving the needs of mature consumers."

Recently the Friendlies Chemist pharmacy in the town of Claremont was awarded the first Experience+ endorsement for its commitment to serving the needs of mature customers more effectively
