Who Will Get Emmy Nods This Week?

Our critic predicts plenty of AARP-age actors will be on the list

Oprah Winfrey, Kevin Spacey and Jessica Lange are among those predicted to be nominated for Emmys.

TV's Emmy nominations will be announced Thursday, and I predict that dozens of actors over 50 — many longtime favorites among them — will get the nod. The Sept. 17 ceremony in Los Angeles will definitely be worth watching for all the grownup talent in the house.

Based on industry buzz, a careful review of critical opinion and my own gut (fortified by my experience as a prognosticator for the awards prediction site Gold Derby), I’m betting that in the most notable acting categories the following names will be nominated. Actors over 50 are in boldface. I’ll share my winner predictions once the nominations are in.

And if you don’t think I’ve got it right, please add your own predictions and thoughts in the comments section below. I welcome any razzing about my status as the Nostradamus of Emmys.
