Giovanna Huyke

Think its too late to become a good cook? Maybe not. Puerto Ricos most acclaimed bilingual culinary expert, Giovanna Huyke, is also a cookbook author and TV celebrity chef. She personally believes that anyone can become a good cook. Her unique approachadapting native ingredients and cooking methods to todays busy lifestyleshas revolutionized Puerto Rican cuisine.
The engaging chef has authored five books and 20 recipe booklets, and is wrapping up her latest venture, Sabores de mi Isla, a book bringing to the kitchen a combination of Puerto Rican flavors from the past and present. Her work has appeared in Bon Appétit, Food and Wine, Shape en Espańol, The New York Times and other publications, and she writes a weekly column for El Nuevo Día and El Nuevo Herald.
The traveling ambassador of cuisine has visited New York, Chicago, Madrid, Hawaii and Tokyo, introducing her Puerto Rican culinary specialties to these nations. Yet her daily television program, La Cocina de GiovannaGiovannas Kitchenis the outlet for her passion: sharing recipescomplete with interpretation, discussing the origins of various dishes and providing detailed but easy to follow instructions for meal preparations.
Some of San Juans premier restaurants, like Amadeus, as well as Ali-Oli, have been showcases for Huykes expertise. Her personal establishments include Don Juan and Café Giovanna. She appears regularly at Univisions Despierta America and was featured on Good Morning America, Regis and Kathy Lee and other programs.
