Experience the Little Sài Gòn Mural

One of the most visible examples of that commitment is the new Little Sài Gòn mural at Asian Plaza, created by local artist Stacy Nguyen. The mural celebrates the neighborhood's history, culture, and future while adding a bold visual landmark to one of the district's busiest corridors. The project was made possible through a partnership with Friends of Little Sài Gòn and was brought to life with help from AARP volunteers and community members.

For many volunteers, the mural project was about more than painting. It was an opportunity to build relationships and contribute to a lasting community asset. "The most enjoyable part of mural painting was the new friendships I built with the community members from Friends of Little Sài Gòn," said AARP volunteer Herman Gilman. "They are a dynamic group of youthful, dedicated artists and activists who are bringing vitality to the rebirth of the Little Sài Gòn neighborhood." Gilman added, "I feel the mural project will be a lasting imprint on the rebirth of the Little Sài Gòn neighborhood in years to come."

The mural demonstrates how public art can strengthen neighborhood identity, inspire community pride, and create welcoming spaces that reflect the stories of the people who live and work in the CID.

Visit a New Art Installation at 7th & Jackson

Just a few blocks away, local artist Nolen Lee is transforming a vacant storefront at 7th and Jackson into a striking public art installation. The project will bring new energy and creativity to a highly visible location while encouraging residents and visitors to explore the neighborhood and engage with local artists.

Discover Stories at the Wing Luke Museum

The Wing Luke Museum offers another way to experience the rich heritage of the CID. Through exhibits exploring topics such as Bruce Lee, Asian American athletes, food traditions, and community history, the museum brings powerful stories to life for visitors of all ages.

The museum serves as an important cultural anchor for the neighborhood, connecting visitors with the diverse experiences and contributions of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander communities. A visit to the Wing Luke Museum provides deeper context for understanding the people, traditions, and histories that continue to shape the district today.
