2015-2016 Consumer Fraud State Fact Sheets
Research shows that more than $15 billion was stolen from about 13.1 million victims in 2015, according to the latest Javelin Strategy and Research reports on identity fraud.
It is estimated that older adults are bilked out of about $3 billion every year.
August is AARP's Fraud Fighting Month. To aid the ongoing efforts of AARP's Fraud Watch Network's goal of providing Americans with resources and tools to help them protect their financial security, AARP Research has created the 'Consumer Fraud Fact Sheet'.
The Consumer Fraud Fact Sheets provide state level data on fraud, identity theft, consumer complaints and gives each state a ranking based on research conducted by the Federal Trade Commission.
