Divided We Fail Praises Lawmakers for Moving Health IT Forward

News Release

July 24, 2008

Divided We Fail—an alliance lead by AARP, Business Roundtable, Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB)—issued the following statement on today’s House Ways & Means Health Subcommittee hearing on health information technology:

As skyrocketing costs continue to plague our health care system, we are proud to see lawmakers from both sides of the aisle coming together on legislation with the potential to save both lives and money. Divided We Fail and the 53 million Americans it represents applaud those in Congress who have worked so diligently to move health IT forward. By bringing our health care system into the 21st century, Congress can set in place a building block for broader reform next year and beyond. AARP, Business Roundtable, SEIU and NFIB look forward to working with the full committee and the entire Congress to make health IT law this year.

Divided We Fail submitted written testimony for today’s Health Subcommittee hearing. For a copy of the testimony or other questions, please contact AARP Media Relations at 202-434-2560.
