AARP Saddened by the Loss of Robert M. Ball

WASHINGTON— AARP Policy Director John Rother released the following statement on the passing of Robert M. Ball, the founder of the National Academy of Social Insurance (NASI) and long-time champion of American social insurance programs.
"Americans of all ages have lost a true champion in Bob Ball's passing. He has been the leading voice for social insurance for decades, and a tireless defender of Social Security and Medicare. His dedication has inspired a whole generation of younger advocates and leaders in the field, and his writings will continue to influence the debate for broader health and pension coverage for years to come."
The National Academy of Social Insurance is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization made up of the nation's leading experts on social insurance. Its mission is to promote understanding and informed policymaking on social insurance and related programs through research, public education, training, and the open exchange of ideas.
