Shannon Guzman, M.C.P, MA

Shannon Guzman is a Policy Research Senior Analyst supporting the Independent Living and Long-Term Care Team. Prior to joining AARP she was a Senior Planner for the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, in the Prince George's County Planning Department, where she worked on long-range, comprehensive planning projects focused on the implementation of smart growth, neighborhood revitalization and transit-oriented development policies and strategies to enhance the quality of life for several communities

For two years, she served as a Peace Corps Municipal Development Volunteer in El Salvador, where she worked on community development projects with an emphasis on citizen participation, girls' education, and municipal workforce development and training. She has also worked in the television and film production and the 401(k) industries. She recently received certification as a LEED Green Associate through the U.S. Green Building Council. Shannon received a Master of Community Planning Degree from the University of Maryland, an MA in Communications, Culture and Technology from Georgetown University and a BA in Spanish from the University of Virginia.
