Selena Caldera joined AARP Public Policy Institute in the summer of 2008. She works on Social Security issues, with a special focus on reliance on Social Security and minorities' Social Security income. She has an MPP from the Georgetown Public Policy Institute, with a focus on social, family and education policy, and a BA in Government from the University of Texas, Austin.
She has previously worked in education policy at the Census Bureau and at the Texas Center for Educational Research; on immigration issues at the Department of Homeland Security's Office of Immigration Statistics; and covered various issue areas as an analyst in the Private-Sector Mandates Unit at the Congressional Budget Office.
