Lina Walker, Ph.D.

Lina Walker is the Health Director in AARP's Public Policy Institute (PPI).  Previously, she was a Senior Strategic Policy Advisor on the Long-Term Care/Independent Living team, working on Medicaid, long-term care, and home and community-based services issues. Before joining PPI, Dr. Walker was the Research Director of the Retirement Security Project — a joint project between the Brookings Institution and Georgetown University. She was also a Research Assistant Professor at Georgetown Public Policy Institute.

Prior to her tenure at the Retirement Security Project, she worked at the Congressional Budget Office modeling the long-term impact of disability on the Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid programs.  She also spent several years at the Office of Policy Analysis of the Maryland General Assembly, where she focused on Medicaid and long-term care issues. She has a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Michigan.
