Barbara S. Akinwole, MLS

Ms. Akinwole serves as the Web manager and publications coordinator for the Center to Champion Nursing in America (CCNA). In this position, she provides oversight of CCNA's multiple interactive external and internal Web-based sites, and is responsible for the day-to-day development and presentation of content and the overall maintenance of the websites. Ms. Akinwole coordinates content development and distribution of the center's e-publications. She managed the development and launch of the center's website, phases I and II, and later, its entry into social media —(Facebook, Twitter).

Prior to joining the center, Ms. Akinwole managed the outreach activities for the Space Studies Board (SSB) of the National Research Council, National Academy of Sciences, including product/content development and marketing of the board's external and internal websites.

She has served as a reference/business services library consultant, with emphasis on Web and print publications. She is a former president of the North Carolina Chapter of Special Libraries Association (NCSLA) and served on the board of directors of the North Carolina Library Association (NCLA). She has written articles for the journals of NCLA, NCSLA and the national Special Libraries Association. She holds a Master of Library Science degree and a Certificate of Accomplishment in Publishing and Editing.
