Andrea Brassard, AARP

Andrea Brassard, RN, DNSc, MHP, FNP

Andrea Brassard provides content expertise to the Center to Champion Nursing in America and the Future of Nursing: Campaign for Action. She marshals resources for the development of evidence-based public policy solutions that promote an adequate and sustainable nursing workforce that is prepared and empowered to provide the care that consumers need in an evolving health care system. She represented AARP on the HRSA Negotiated Rulemaking Committee for the Designation of Medically Underserved Areas/Populations & Health Professionals Shortage Areas.

She received both a Master of Public Health and a Doctor of Nursing Science degree from Columbia University, where she was a public policy fellow. Her dissertation was "Predictors and Outcomes of Home Care Use in Urban Elders." Her advanced family nurse practitioner certificate was earned at the George Washington University. She volunteers quarterly as an attending at the GWU medical student HEALING clinic for underserved Washington, D.C. residents.
