Adecco Group North America’s Renaissance Program is a large-scale recruiting effort aimed specifically at mature workers. The recruiting materials in the program inform mature workers of the training and employment opportunities available as temporary employees and state that temporary workers are eligible for health and prescription benefits.
 
Additional Policies and Practices:
 
· Recruiting: Adecco uses placement agencies for older job-seekers to target mature workers and retirees.
 
· Workplace Culture/Continued Opportunities: Employees working at least 30 hours a week can participate in the following learning and development programs: tuition reimbursement, in-house classroom training, online training, and certification classes. During the past 12 months, 100 percent of Adecco employees participated in at least one of the training opportunities, with an average of three hours spent in training.
 
Adecco celebrates long-service anniversaries with announcements, parties, awards, and length-of-service gifts. The company has made the following benefit enhancements based on employee requests: implementing a smoking ban at corporate headquarters, offering summer hours, enhancing medical and dental benefits, improving 401(k) selections, upgrading the service award and recognition program, and reevaluating and reviewing compensation plans. Employees have opportunities to gain new experiences by working on temporary assignments in other departments, on task forces, and on team projects. Examples of job accommodations for employees in need include: providing translators, providing special computer equipment, and offering flexible schedules.
 
· Benefits/Health: Employees working at least 30 hours a week receive individual and family medical coverage, individual and family prescription-drug coverage, individual and family vision and dental insurance, individual and family long-term-care insurance, and short- and long-term disability. The company offers employees health reimbursement accounts to help cover out-of-pocket health care costs.
 
· Benefits/Financial: Adecco offers a 401(k) retirement savings plan with an employer match to its full- and part-time employees working at least 30 hours per week. Full-time employees also receive stock options. All new hires are automatically enrolled in the 401(k) plan, and employees may invest in lifecycle funds. Employees receive financial planning information from the financial services firm that administers the 401(k) plan. This firm also provides an interactive Web site that is personalized for each employee.
 
The company offers the following wellness programs to full- and part-time employees: flu shots, health screenings, health-risk appraisals, smoking-cessation programs, health club discounts, physical activity and exercise programs, weight loss programs, educational programs for expectant mothers, disease-management program, and stress management training. The company also has a nurse-line support hotline available to employees to assist in routine health care issues or to be the first step in treating more serious issues.
 
Adecco offers referral services to assist with care for children and grandchildren and for eldercare issues. The company also provides backup care for children to its full- and part-time employees working at least 30 hours weekly.
 
· Benefits/Alternative Work Arrangements: Adecco offers the following alternative work arrangements to full- and part-time employees: flextime, compressed work schedules, job-sharing, and telecommuting. Employees have the opportunity to select temporary employment as a bridge between full-time work and retirement. Full-time employees are eligible to move to part-time work on a permanent and temporary basis.  
 
· Opportunities for Retirees: Adecco currently has 1,179 retirees and a person directly responsible for retiree relations. The company stays connected with retirees by communicating regularly and by formally acknowledging retirees when they retire. Adecco offers retirees temporary work assignments, consulting and contract work, telecommuting, and full- or part-time work.
 
· Age of Workforce: Eighteen percent of the company’s employees are age 50+. The average tenure of employees age 50+ is 8.1 years.
