Most people agonize about impending medical treatment, legal issues and other concerns related with the final stages of their lives. The AARP Foundation encourages the friends and family members of older persons to discuss these eventualities and to help their older loved ones to remain the primary decision makers of every phase of their lives. The Foundation, working in conjunction with AARP, provides information regarding end-of-life preferences, advance care planning regarding legal directives such as healthcare power of attorney, hospice and palliative care, spiritual concerns and end-of-life symptoms.

What You Can Do

Your support can only strengthen our commitment to empowering older Americans to have a bigger say in decisions that affect their physical and emotional health. Your gift will help us extend our volunteer network and the invaluable training we provide. It will allow us to roll out successful pilot programs to national audiences. It will increase our effectiveness in working with local, state and national agencies committed to these endeavors. Truly, your support of the AARP Foundation will have far-reaching effects.
