Compassion in Dying Federation provides counseling, support, and legal advocacy to Oregonians seeking voluntary physician-assisted suicide. Affiliates are in Alaska, California, Hawaii, Montana, New York, and Washington. (503-221-9556, www.compassionindying.org)

Death With Dignity National Center works to promote the passage of physician-assisted suicide laws throughout the country. (202-969-1669, www.deathwithdignity.org)

Physicians for Compassionate Care Educational Foundation opposes the Oregon law. It encourages doctors to comfort patients by minimizing pain, building support systems, and treating depression. (503-533-8154, www.pccef.org)
