The Debate Over Assisted Suicide (Part II)

Assisted suicide is a hotly contested issue for very good reason — the emotional, religious, and moral dimensions behind the question of who makes the decision about how and when we die can be overwhelming. Meanwhile, decisions about assisted suicide are being made in courts and in state legislatures. Prime Time Radio has dedicated an entire hour to talk with two leading legal thinkers on opposite sides of the issue to break down the legal and ethical arguments underlying this controversial issue.

In this second half of Prime Time Radio's hour-long special on assisted suicide, assisted suicide proponent and legal scholar Kathryn Tucker shares with host Mike Cuthbert her vast expertise regarding the laws underlying the assisted suicide debate. She reviews the history of Oregon's assisted suicide legislation, as well as efforts in other states to adopt similar laws allowing the practice. Ms. Tucker works as the Director of Legal Affairs for the Compassion in Dying Federation and has argued two cases in support of assisted suicide in front of the Supreme Court.
