Seminar Introduction
Caring for a parent who is too sick or frail to live alone takes a huge emotional, physical and sometimes even financial toll on the caregiver as well as the parent. But too often the task is made even more difficult when adult children fail to take advantage of all the help they can get, whether from other family members or from social service agencies. Learning how to do so results in better care for the parent and reduces the burden on the caregiver.
This seminar is designed to help you figure out how best to help your parents when they need hands-on caregiving. Your will learn to identify the best strategies to care for your parent and to determine where and how to get assistance.
Learning Objectives
- Identify three community services that can help care for your parents in their home.
- List four strategies for dealing with family members when you are seeking their help with caregiving responsibilities.
- Draw up a plan for caring for your parents who live far away should serious illness strike.
- Identify three services specifically designed to ease the stress of caregivers.
