In 1961, President Kennedy challenged Americans by saying, "Ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country." Shortly after his inauguration, he created the Peace Corps. Since that time, more than 190,000 Americans have served as Peace Corps Volunteers in 139 countries around the world. Peace Corps Volunteers have been teachers and mentors to children, helped farmers grow crops, worked with small businesses to market products, and improved maternal health and family nutrition. More recently, they have helped schools develop computer skills and educated entire communities about the threat of HIV/AIDS.
The Peace Corps provides many unique opportunities for people over the age of 50 and recruits dedicated employees who work behind the scenes to support the work of thousands of volunteers serving overseas and the agency's mission to promote world peace and friendship.
Employees enjoy challenging and interesting jobs in the US and overseas that have a real sense of purpose and meaning including recruiting new volunteers, providing administrative services, supporting overseas programs and providing medical support.
