Inside E Street takes a nonpartisan, civil look into issues critical to Americans, especially those north of 50. It's your inside resource on financial and health issues.

Emmy award winning journalist Lark McCarthy was a pioneering news anchor in Washington, D.C. for three decades.  She served as anchor and senior editor of Fox Five Morning News for 17 years.  McCarthy also covered vital issues and newsmakers as a White House Correspondent for ABC News, and anchor for CBS News Nightwatch.

McCarthy has received numerous awards and honors including a Silver Circle award for her significant contributions to news coverage in the Washington area.  She has been praised for setting the standard for accuracy and fairness.

Having earned a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Science degree in journalism, she is a proud graduate of Northwestern University.

As a young reporter she was assigned the education beat and has since remained interested in the challenges of providing a quality education.  McCarthy currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Public Education Foundation of Clark County, Nevada. She also serves on the Kennedy Center's National Committee for the Performing Arts and chairs the NCPA's Executive Committee.

A boomer, McCarthy is married with an adult daughter.

During the recent H1N1 flu pandemic McCarthy served as moderator for a series of webcasts for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services aimed at alerting the nation to the many issues involved in preparedness and response.

“All of my experiences have helped prepare me for this latest adventure of hosting Inside E Street.  We’ll be putting facts in context, and exploring the implications of all kinds of research with the best minds available,” McCarthy says.  “ I take public affairs personally. It’s my hope that after each Inside E Street a viewer will have information to become a better  citizen and to be able to make better choices regarding health or economic security. That old saying is still true: knowledge is power.”
