The AARP District of Columbia Aging Workforce Recognition Resolution of 2005

To recognize and honor AARP District of Columbia for raising awareness of the value of workers 50+ and providing employers with tools to make the most of this growing workplace demographic.
WHEREAS, AARP District of Columbia is calling attention to a major shift taking place in the District and throughout the nation - the 50 year old and older workforce is growing at a faster rate than the below 50 workforce;
WHEREAS, AARP District of Columbia is providing resources, highlighting best practices and identifying practical solutions to help employers attract and retain workers over the age of 50;
WHEREAS, AARP District of Columbia is taking leadership to bring together business and government to share strategies for ensuring future success by addressing the importance of the older worker;
WHEREAS, AARP District of Columbia is raising employers' recognition that, as the proportion of younger to older workers continues to decline, the mature, experienced worker will become increasingly important to their bottom-line success; and
WHEREAS, AARP District of Columbia is shining a light on the significant strengths that workers 50 years of age and older bring to the table because of their solid work ethic, extensive experience, stability and ever-growing set of skills.
RESOLVED, by the Council of the District of Columbia that the resolution may be cited as "The AARP District of Columbia Aging Workforce Recognition Resolution 0f 2005."
SEC. 2. The Council of the District of Columbia honors AARP District of Columbia on the occasion of its Older Workers Forum titled, Staying Ahead of the Curve: Employer Best Practices for Mature Workers and for the valuable contribution it has made to the District of Columbia
This resolution shall take effect immediately.
