Learn to re-career, re-enter or just revive your career at 50+

Would you like some new assignments at your job, using skills you haven't used before?

What about learning ways to make yourself more valuable to your current employer?

Been out of the workforce for a while and want to re-enter?

Or, have you tried retirement, but want something part-time to keep engaged and earning some extra cash?

Please join Deborah Russell, AARP's Director of Workforce Issues, to learn what 50+ Delawareans have to offer in today's workplace. In her lunchtime keynote talk, "Selling Your Talent—Experience DOES Count," she'll offer tips on how you can re-career, re-enter or just revive your present day job at the Celebrating Life 50+ Expo on April 25 at the Chase Center on the Riverfront in Wilmington.

Russell was recently awarded the prestigious American Society on Aging Leadership Award, an honor designed to recognize an individual who has made an outstanding and ongoing contribution to aging-related service, research, administration or advocacy on the national level. She is well known for her tireless, cutting-edge work with the business community to create employment opportunities that are fair, flexible and that capitalize on the wealth of knowledge and expertise mature workers bring to today's marketplace. Ms. Russell has appeared on national television programs such as CNN, CNBC, Good Morning America CBS Morning Show and CBS Evening News and is frequently quoted in national and local newspapers.

Russell will be joined by WHYY-TV's Willo Carey, who will offer another vantage point on retirement with a discussion of how older people can put their passions, experience and skills to creative use through volunteering. Carey is the executive director of the PBS program Wider Horizons, a multimedia service addressing the needs and interests of boomers and retirees including a weekly TV12 segment that explores how to lead a healthier, happier, more balanced life at 50-plus.

Acknowledging that the 50+ population of today have different lifestyles than those of previous generations, LifeTime Expos & Events has addressed these differences by bringing together over 50 unique exhibitors to showcase the latest products, services and cutting-edge information. This Expo is designed specifically for boomers and seniors that embrace life issues including feeling and looking their best, balancing health and fun and discovering innovative ideas to celebrate all aspects of life. The Expo will also feature free health screenings including blood pressure, balance testing, ear exams and posture checks.

The event will run from 10am to 2pm; a free lunch will be served to those attending the noontime keynote talks.

You can find more information online or by calling LifeTime Expos & Events at (215) 968-4593. The event is sponsored by AARP Delaware, Easter Seals, WHYY-TV's Wider Horizons, Coming of Age and Christiana Care Health Systems.
