Divided We Fail Launches in Minnesota

Thousands of Minnesotans struggle every day with the rising costs of health care and saving for retirement. Families want peace of mind and want to know they won't outlive their savings or have a health emergency cause financial ruin. That's why AARP has launched Divided We Fail, a campaign to give voice to millions of Americans who are tired of letting Washington gridlock stand in the way of affordable, quality health care and lifetime financial security.
Here in Minnesota, a group of AARP volunteers from various communities around the state have teamed up to help spread the Divided We Fail messages around Minnesota. From now until the 2008 November elections, volunteers will be speaking at events, asking voters to sign the Divided We Fail pledge cards and gathering stories from Minnesotans about how health care and financial security have affected their lives. The goal is to create a movement for change and elect leaders who will give us action, answers and accountability on health and lifetime financial security.
Minnesota has always been a major center for health care - both in terms of the major health care companies that call our state home and the unique health care policy initiatives that have originated in our state. With your help, Minnesotans can help ignite a national debate on the need for health care reform and economic security.
We need stories, experiences, opinions and ideas from Minnesotans across the state. We will be taking these stories and ideas to the halls of Congress and the Oval Office as millions of Americans demand action, answers and accountability from our elected officials. And we'll even be publishing some of them as the campaign spreads across the nation.
AARP is sponsoring a series of events for members and the public across Minnesota over the next few months to gather opinions and share how the issues of health care and financial security have affected the people of our state.
