Ford Recalls Nearly 243,000 Pickup Trucks

Ford Motor Co. recalled nearly 243,000 small pickup trucks because their taillights may fail, according to documents released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

The issue stems from a car computer falsely detecting too much electrical current on one or both taillights, causing them to turn off and increasing the risk of a crash.

However, the problem does not affect the headlights, brake lights, or turn signals.

The recalled pickup trucks

The recall affects certain Ford Maverick models from 2022 through 2024.

To correct the problem, dealers will update the software that causes the car to falsely detect a current overload.

Dealers can access information about your vehicle in their database. The number for this recall is 24S24. The affected pickup trucks cannot be searched online with their vehicle identification number (VIN).

Notification letters are expected to be mailed by May 20.

Last month, over 456,000 Ford Bronco Sport and Ford Mavericks were recalled because of a battery issue that could result in the loss of essential functions such as hazard lights and lead to power loss while driving.
