Ford Motor Co. recalled more than 456,000 light SUVs and trucks for a battery issue that can cause essential functions such as hazard lights to stop working and lead to a loss of power while driving, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced (NHTSA).
In some instances, the vehicle might stall as it slows down to stop, or it may fail to restart after automatically shutting off.

Ford is aware of 917 warranty reports and 54 customer complaints related to this issue. There are three unverified reports of fire and two property damage claims, according to the NHTSA safety recall report.
The recalled Ford vehicles
The recall affects certain Ford Bronco Sport models from 2021 to 2024, as well as 2022 and 2023 Ford Mavericks.
To correct the problem, dealers will recalibrate the vehicles’ body and power train control modules, free of charge.

The number for this recall is 24S24. The affected SUVs cannot be searched online with their vehicle identification number (VIN).
Notification letters are expected to be mailed to owners starting May 13.
Additional recall for Bronco Sport owners
Last week, nearly 43,000 Ford Broncos and Escapes were recalled because of a potential fuel leak that could cause fuel or vapor to build up under the cars’ hoods, increasing the risk of fire.
The recall affected certain Ford Bronco Sport models from 2022 and 2023, as well as the 2022 Ford Escape. All have 1.5-liter engines.
