Military Discounts for Veterans and Their Families

Vets and service members are eligible for discounts on AARP membership, travel, shopping and more

If you are a veteran or a member of the military, you are eligible for a variety of deals and discounts year-round across the country. Many businesses require you to show government-issued identification to receive the markdowns. Among the deals:

Apparel and retail

1-800-Flowers. Military members and veterans may take 30 percent off flowers and gift baskets.

Adidas. Military members can enjoy 30 percent off online and in stores or 15 percent off at factory outlet stores.

Allen Edmonds. Students, veterans and active military receive 15 percent off at the shoe retailer after military service verification through ID.me.

Asics. A 25 percent discount is offered to service members who verify their status with SheerID.

It doesn't cost to ask

Tip: Even if you don’t see your favorite places listed here, they may have military, senior or veterans discounts.

  • Low-key reductions. Some businesses don’t advertise their deals.
  • Local markdowns. Others may be franchises of national chains that offer price cuts locally but not as part of an across-the-board program.
  • What is ID.me? The website says it meets federal standards for identity verification. Put in your information once, and after it’s assessed, you don’t have to reenter the info wherever this service is used.

BJ’s Wholesale Club. All active military personnel may join for $25 for a one-year membership, plus a $10 welcome bonus with identification and enrollment in automatic renewal.

Bonobos. Current and former military personnel are eligible for a 25 percent discount.

Champion. Military members, veterans and their families can receive a 20 percent discount.

Costco. Upon becoming an executive member, active or retired military members and their spouses or dependents receive a $40 shop card and $20 for new Gold Star members.

CVS. Those enrolled in Veterans Advantage can take 20 percent off all online orders with free shipping.

Fred Meyer. Every third Thursday current military members, veterans and their families are eligible for an extra 10 percent off private label goods, including Fred Meyer, Kroger and Simple Truth.

Helly Hansen. Active-duty members, retirees, reservists and veterans can receive a 35 percent discount to shop online.

Kohl’s. Active military, veterans and their families can receive 15 percent off in stores on Military Mondays.

Lululemon. Service members, military spouses and first responders receive 15 percent off with their government IDs.

Manscaped. Active-duty service members, veterans and first responders get 20 percent off and free shipping when verified through ID.me.

Michaels. Registered military members with a Michaels Rewards account can take 15 percent off their entire purchase.

Nike. A 10 percent discount is provided to active-duty members, retirees, reservists, veterans and their families.

Rack Room Shoes. Every Tuesday, veterans, military personnel and their families get 10 percent off their entire in-store purchase.

Sam’s Club. Active or retired military personnel and their spouses will receive 60 percent off club memberships by joining online.

Tiffany & Co. Active-duty members, reservists and veterans may take 10 percent off engagement rings and wedding bands.

Timberland. Military members can save 10 percent on their online orders once service has been verified.

Yankee Candle. All active and retired military members and their immediate families may take 10 percent off their purchase.

Yeti. Discounts are offered to current service members, first responders, government employees and veterans on select products after verification through ID.me.

Car and auto service

Advance Auto Parts. Active-duty and reserve military, plus veterans with at least 20 years of service or receiving Veterans Affairs benefits, and their immediate family can take 10 percent off regularly priced items in stores.

Anthem Off-Road. All active-duty service members and veterans get 15 percent off any regularly priced Anthem wheels.

Auto Accessories Garage. Military members, veterans, retirees and their families can receive discounts ranging from 5 to 20 percent.

Avis. Veterans and active military save up to 35 percent on base rates on rental vehicles after enrolling in the Veterans Advantage program.

BMW. Active-duty members, veterans and military family members are eligible for up to $5,000 off a lease or new vehicle purchases.

Budget. Enroll in Veterans Advantage to receive up to 35 percent off car rentals.

Geico. Active-duty members, National Guard, reserves or retired military receive a 15 percent discount on insurance premiums. Members of select military associations also can get the discounts.

Hertz. Veterans, active-duty, National Guard, reserve members and their families are eligible for discounted rates.

Honda. Active-duty military, veterans, spouses and Gold Star families can receive a $500 discount toward the lease or purchase of a new vehicle.

Jeep. Active-duty service members, retired military or honorably discharged veterans within 12 months of separation are eligible for a $500 military bonus on select 2024 and 2023 purchased or leased vehicles.

O’Reilly Auto Parts. Active-duty, reserve, retired and veteran service members, plus immediate family, get 10 percent off in-store purchases with the exception of antifreeze, motor oil and sale items.

Penske. All retired military members may receive a 15 percent discount off moving truck rentals. The company has a phone line for do-it-yourself military moves at 844-487-6677 (844-4TROOPS).

Toyota. All military personnel, retirees and veterans within two years of discharge can take advantage of a $500 rebate after making a purchase or lease through Toyota Financial Services.

Volkswagen. First responders, service members and those within two years of discharge can receive $500 toward the lease or purchase of select new Volkswagens.

Dining

Bonefish Grill. All service members, veterans and first responders may take 10 percent off their check every day.

Greene Turtle. Military members can take 15 percent off their meal.

Luna Grill. All active and retired military service members and their spouses may take 10 percent off their purchase, excluding alcohol.

Melting Pot. Military personnel, firefighters, EMTs, police officers and one guest may take 20 percent off their dinner (food only) on Sundays at most locations.

Outback Steakhouse. Military personnel and veterans may take 10 percent off their entire check, excluding alcohol, with their immediate family.

Red Lobster. Active-duty service members receive 10 percent off their meals on Military Mondays.

Texas de Brazil. Emergency medical personnel, firefighters, law enforcement, nurses, service members, veterans and teachers get 15 percent off lunch and dinner prices, along with three others in their party.

Entertainment

Cinemark Theatres. Active-duty and retired members and dependents may be eligible for a discount at the box office at certain times or on certain days. Call your theater for details.

Regal Cinemas. Active and retired military members qualify for a discount offered at a variety of Regal locations. Call your theater for details and availability.

SiriusXM. Active-duty members, reserves, retirees and veterans receive a 25 percent discount.

Health and fitness

24 Hour Fitness. Active-duty and reserve military, firefighters, paramedics, police and their spouses can qualify for no initiation fee and get $5 off monthly dues.

Atkins. Active-duty service members, first responders and veterans can get 15 percent off bars, shakes and snacks.

Eyemart Express. Active-duty service members, retired military, veterans and their dependents receive a 20 percent discount.

LasikPlus. Active-duty military, veterans and their families get a 20 percent discount on laser eye surgery.

Home and technology

Apple. Active-duty, National Guard and reserve service members, veterans and their families get 10 percent off products and accessories after verifying military status with ID.me.

AT&T. Military and veteran families can receive discounts beginning at $27 a month per line when you get four lines.

Embrace Pet Insurance. Active-duty service members and former military members get a 5 percent discount that may vary by state.

TurboTax. The company offers its software for free or at a reduced rate, depending on taxes being filed. A military W-2 form is used to verify status.

U.S. Cellular. Veterans and active-duty military members may take 15 percent off calling plan charges, single lines or family plans.

Verizon Wireless and Fios. Military, veterans and their families can qualify for a discounted rate on a variety of phone plans.

Travel

Amtrak. Active-duty military personnel, veterans and their dependents can receive 10 percent off the lowest available rail fare on most Amtrak trains. Uniformed members are welcome at the head of the ticket line.

Beaches by Sandals. Current and former military, Federal Emergency Management Agency employees, firefighters and police save 10 percent after purchasing an all-inclusive vacation, applicable only to one room.

Best Western. Government personnel, military service members and veterans are eligible for discounts at hotels and resorts across North America.

Carnival Cruise Lines. Active and retired military can check Carnival’s calendar to find the best military fares, reduced deposits and upgrades.

Disneyland/Disney World. Active-duty, National Guard, reserve and retired military personnel can buy discounted park tickets.

Great Wolf Lodge. Active-duty or retired military, emergency medical services personnel, firefighters and law enforcement officers save up to 30 percent with the promo code HEROES.

Hyatt Hotels. Military personnel, government employees, defense and some other government contractors can select “government” from the special rates drop-down menu in the booking window for special deals.

Motel 6. Active or retired military personnel and their families can save 10 percent at all Motel 6 and Studio 6 locations.

Royal Caribbean. Military personnel, firefighters, police and older people are offered discounted fares available on select trips.

SeaWorld. Its Waves of Honor programs in Orlando, Florida, San Antonio and San Diego allow active-duty, National Guard and reserve personnel free admission once a year with up to three guests. Veteran discounts vary among SeaWorld locations.

Six Flags. Discounted tickets are available for military and first responders when purchased online.

Universal Studios Hollywood. Active-duty, National Guard, reserve and retired military personnel, as well as 100 percent disabled veterans and their spouses or dependents, can receive specially priced offers when purchased in advance from Military Ticket Offices.
