Upcoming Retirement of Truedit Page Importer Legacy Functionality

As part of that ongoing commitment, we’re announcing the upcoming retirement of the Truedit page importer functionality from our AEM CMS. While this might sound like just another technical update, it’s actually a significant step toward a faster, cleaner, and more user-friendly CMS experience.
 

Why Retire the Truedit Page Importer?

The Truedit page importer has served its purpose over the years, but like many legacy features, it has become increasingly difficult to maintain and support. Every tool in a platform contributes to its overall performance and complexity. By removing features that are no longer essential or widely used, we can focus our resources on strengthening the core CMS, fixing bugs more quickly, and introducing new functionality that better meets the needs of our users.

The retirement of Truedit isn’t happening in isolation. It’s part of a broader initiative aimed at reducing technical debt and streamlining the CMS. Technical debt is a bit like clutter in a house—it builds up quietly over time, making it harder to move quickly or make improvements. By cleaning up these old features, we’re not just improving performance for today—we’re laying the groundwork for a more sustainable and adaptable platform in the future.
 

What’s Changing, and When?

Following the Sprint Two deployment, the Truedit page importer will be fully removed from the CMS. This means that the following URLs will be decommissioned and will no longer be accessible:

• https://cms.aarp.org/etc/aarp/pageimport/truedit/aarp-now.html
