Reynolds Reigns

Ryan Reynolds, who turns 50 on October 23, was born and raised in Vancouver, Canada, the youngest of four boys. At 12, he landed a lead role on the Nickelodeon teen soap Fifteen. After small parts on The Outer Limits and The X-Files, he stepped away from acting, working as a grocery-store clerk in Vancouver before giving Hollywood another chance. He broke through with the comedy Two Guys and a Girl and later starred opposite Sandra Bullock in the romantic comedy The Proposal. After playing an early version of Deadpool in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Reynolds went on to make the wisecracking Marvel antihero one of his most iconic roles.

Off-screen, Reynolds is a savvy entrepreneur with ventures spanning sports, media, telecom, and consumer brands; most notably as co-owner of an Australian sailing team with Hugh Jackman. Reynolds met his wife, actress Blake Lively, when they co-starred in Green Lantern in 2010. They married in 2012 and have four children. Next, Reynolds will play a villain in Netflix’s live-action adaptation of the beloved children’s book Eloise.   

Salma Sizzles

Born in Mexico to a Lebanese father and a Mexican mother, Salma Valgarma Hayek Jiménez, known professionally as Salma Hayek, was a talented gymnast in her youth and was even considered for Olympic training. She later studied International Relations in Mexico City before pursuing an acting career. At 23, she became a household name in Mexico as the star of the hit telenovela Teresa. In 1991, despite speaking little English, Hayek moved to Los Angeles, where she was cast opposite Antonio Banderas in Desperado. She later produced and starred in Frida, portraying artist Frida Kahlo and earning an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress.

Hayek has appeared in films including Grown Ups, the Puss in Boots franchise, and Marvel’s Eternals, while also executive producing the television series Ugly Betty. Fluent in Spanish, English, Arabic, and Portuguese, she has built a career spanning film, television, and production.

Hayek and husband François-Henri Pinault have one daughter, Valentina, and divide their time between Paris and Los Angeles. Next, Hayek will appear in Grown Ups 3. The actress, who turned 60 on September 2, told Red Table Talk: “You can hold your own at any age, you can dream at any age, you can be romantic at any age.”

Beyond Stand-Up Sandler

Born in Brooklyn and raised in New Hampshire, Adam Sandler began performing stand-up comedy in Boston at age 17. While studying acting at NYU, he appeared on The Cosby Show and worked on MTV’s Remote Control. After graduating, Sandler moved to Los Angeles before being hired by Saturday Night Live, where he became known for his musical comedy, including “The Hanukkah Song.” 

Sandler transitioned to writing and starring in hit movies such as Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, and The Wedding Singer. Sandler met his future wife, actress Jackie Titone, while filming Big Daddy in 1999. They married in 2003, with an unconventional best man: Sandler’s bulldog, Meatball, who even walked down the aisle. The couple have two daughters, Sadie and Sunny.

Sandler, who turned 60 on September 9, has also earned critical acclaim for his dramatic performances in films such as Punch-Drunk Love and Uncut Gems. In addition to Grown Ups 3, he has several upcoming Netflix projects, including two that feature his daughters: Don’t Say Good Luck and Roomates. Most recently, Sandler added “wedding officiant” to his résumé when he presided over the wedding of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce.

Martina's Court

Martina Navratilova, who turns 70 on October 18, is a former professional tennis player. Born Martina Šubertová in Czechoslovakia, she later took her stepfather’s surname, Navrátil. She began playing tennis at age four and turned professional in 1975 at 18. After defecting to the United States the following year, she became a U.S. citizen in 1981. Over a four-decade career, Navratilova revolutionized women’s tennis with her left-handed serve-and-volley game. She won a record nine Wimbledon singles titles and amassed 59 Grand Slam championships. Her celebrated rivalry and enduring friendship with Chris Evert are explored in the recent Netflix documentary Chris & Martina: The Final Set. 

Away from the court, Navratilova is an activist, an avid photographer, and a licensed pilot. She also appeared in the TV competition series Dancing with the Stars. More recently, she became a minority owner of the women’s professional soccer club Carolina Ascent FC. Navratilova, who has served as a tennis commentator for the BBC and Tennis Channel, married The Real Housewives of Miami star Julia Lemigova in 2014. The couple, who adopted two boys in 2024, live in Florida.
