Myth: I have to be 50+ to join.

Fact: While AARP is dedicated to improving the lives of people as they age, people over 50, there is no minimum age to join.  Some benefits are limited based on age but the vast majority of many benefits and discounts are open to people of all ages. We have content that can help you prepare for retirement, financial planning, and life now before you turn 50 - the younger you are the more you need AARP!

Myth: AARP is for retirees only.

Fact: AARP is so much more! In fact, many of our members are still working. We offer resources to help you with a second career including resume services and job boards. Myth: AARP is an insurance company.

Fact: AARP is not an insurance company. We do however endorse the AARP Medicare Supplement Insurance Plans, insured by UnitedHealthcare Insurance Company.  AARP does not employ or endorse insurance agents, brokers or producers. Myth: AARP supports a political ideology.

Fact: AARP is a non-partisan advocacy organization dedicated to improving the lives of people as they age. We do not endorse or contribute money to candidates or political parties. Aging and issues important to our older population are relevant to all regardless of politics. We arm people with information, help them save money for themselves and their families, and address some of the biggest concerns of people over 50, like maintaining mental sharpness.
