If I move to another state will it affect my Social Security benefit?

En español | Moving to another state will not affect your Social Security benefit payment.  Your state of residence is not a factor in determining your benefit amount.  However, some states tax Social Security benefits.  You should contact the state income tax agency in your new state to find out if they tax Social Security income.
