The House Bill Would Mean a Tax Hike for Millions of Seniors. Learn More

How can I find out how much my Social Security benefit will be reduced if I am subject to the Windfall Elimination Provision?

If you worked in federal, state or local government employment that was not covered by Social Security, you may be affected by the Windfall Elimination Provision unless you paid Social Security tax on 30 years or more of substantial earnings. The WEP reduction to your Social Security benefits cannot exceed half of the pension from your non-covered employment. To find out if you will be affected, please visit http://www.socialsecurity.gov/retire2/wep-chart.htm.
