Bags No Longer Fly Free

SOUTHWEST AIRLINES was the last major carrier to offer free checked baggage to all fliers. If you have elite status in an airline loyalty program, book a business- or first-class fare, or carry the airline’s credit card, you can still get free checked baggage. But otherwise, “be sure to include those ancillary costs into the budget for your trip,” says Sean Cudahy, senior aviation reporter at The Points Guy.
