Sudoku for Your Suitcase

Use the puzzle’s principles to shrink your travel garb

Collage of various clothes folded in a grid

To fit multiple outfits in a carry-on, use the Packing Sudoku method, says influencer Natalie Shaquer. Lay out bottoms, tops and layers that work together.

PICK YOUR CLOTHING ITEMS

Visualize how your choices go together by laying them in a three-by-three grid so there’s one type of clothing per row and column.

CONSIDER YOUR MATCHES

Each row and each column should make an outfit: pants, shorts or a skirt; a shirt; and an outer layer, such as a sweater or sweatshirt.

MAXIMIZE YOUR PACKING

You can mix and match the items beyond the rows and columns to create up to 27 different outfits. —Berit Thorkelson
