Lauryn Hill, May 26

After gaining notice in the Fugees, with their chart-topping 1996 album, The Score, Hill set the world on fire with her critically acclaimed 1998 solo LP, The Mis-​education of Lauryn Hill.

What to listen to: Mis-education features a mix of hip-hop, R&B, soul, reggae and gospel.

Jack White, July 9

This Detroit-born singer-guitarist rose to prominence in the White Stripes, of “Seven Nation Army” fame.
