(AUGUST 27): The actor is best known for playing “second Becky” on Roseanne and Dr. Elliot Reid on Scrubs.
EARLY YEARS: Chalke grew up in Vancouver, British Columbia. When she was a child, she acted in musical theater.
IN THE U.S.: As a teenager, she landed her first major role when she took over the part of eldest daughter Becky Conner on Roseanne. She played Becky for three full seasons and part of a fourth.
SCRUBS ERA: Chalke played Dr. Reid for nine seasons, from 2001 to 2010, and again this year on the series revival. The show has been renewed for another season on ABC.
FAMILIAR VOICE: Rick and Morty fans will recognize Chalke as Beth from the adult animated series, for which she has been a voice actor since 2013.
MAKING A DIFFERENCE: An advocate for breast cancer awareness, she has played breast cancer patients twice: in the TV movie Why I Wore Lipstick to My Mastectomy (2006) and the series Firefly Lane (2021). —Whitney Matheson
