Conquer the Clutter: Make a Device-Charging Station

Make a Charging Station

IF THE SIGHT of cords all over your tables and countertops drives you mad, consider a DIY charging station to reduce clutter. Bonus: It’s an ideal place for kids and others to park their phones during dinner.

1. Cut a hole in the back of a basket or drawer, or in the bottom of a wall-mounted cabinet (such as one otherwise designed to go over a toilet).

2. In the basket, drawer or cabinet, place a charging dock (a device with multiple chargers) or a power strip with various chargers plugged in. Run the main power cord through the hole.

3. In a drawer, another option is to use a recessed power strip, which will sit nearly flush with the drawer back when mounted.

4. Plug the charging dock or power strip into a nearby outlet.
