ABOUT

Carlos Figueiredo, PhD, MA, is a senior methods advisor with AARP Public Policy Institute, where he provides data analyses for public policy research projects that utilize large public use data sets. He conducts policy analyses requiring complex programming, data manipulation, data interpretation, and computer simulation on issues relating to social security and other national health issues.

He supports the work of four PPI issue teams (Economics, Health, Consumer, Independent Living and Long-Term Care) by providing expert technical direction for public policy research projects. He is familiar with many large-scale public-use data and conducts policy analysis that requires complex programming, data manipulation, data analysis, and computer simulations. In addition to his extensive experience with AARP, he is an Engineer by training, with graduate studies in Transportation and Policy Analysis, and a Ph.D. in Public Administration and Information and Decision Systems.

Prior to joining AARP, Carlos held several consultant positions in computer sciences and systems analysis. He has a PhD in public administration from George Washington University, and a master’s in policy analysis from the University of Minnesota.
