William Shiflett joined the AARP Public Policy Institute in April 2016. He works on retirement security, financial issues and consumer protection. Most of his research involves analysis of public data sets such as the Survey of Consumer Finances and the Current Population Survey.
Prior to joining AARP, William worked in PricewaterhouseCooper’s Federal Sector, where he serviced loans in the Small Business Administration’s Certified Development Company portfolio. Prior to that, he worked for Hospital Corporation of America where he investigated discrepancies in billing codes and insurer payments.
William holds a Master of Public Policy from the College of William and Mary, where he focused on retirement policies, transient housing, consumer debt, and econometrics. He also holds a BA in English from the College of William and Mary.
