2001 New Jersey Legislative Issues Survey

AARP Member Opinion Research

Of the cross section of AARP's 1.3 million New Jersey members surveyed by mail during July and August 2001, over 90% support a variety of specific initiatives to strengthen long-term care, consumer protection and affordable housing in the state, and at least 70% say they would be more likely to vote for candidates supporting legislation in these areas.

Questionnaires were sent to a random sample of 2,000 AARP members in New Jersey selected from AARP's Insight database. Replies were received from 1,088 members for a 54% response rate. With data tabulation by FGI, Inc., the project was managed and the report prepared by Susan L. Silberman, Ph.D., of AARP's Knowledge Management staff. (13 pages)
